About UPSCM

We are a friendly self-help group providing support, information and a forum for discussion for people who have CFS/ME and their carers (mainly in the UK). New posters are always welcome, and are advised to read the Charter and Posting Tips before posting.

Posting Tips

UPSCM is a friendly group, feel free to jump right in and introduce yourself. It's pretty quiet nowadays, so don't worry if you don't get a reply straight away.

Please post considerately – typing in uppercase makes your post more tiring to read, especially for those who are ill. Also, if your post is long and/or complicated, break it into manageable chunks with a blank line between paragraphs.

Quote enough of the post you're replying to for your comments to make sense, but try not to quote huge chunks – it increases download times for slow connections, increases costs for per-Mb downloads, and increases fatigue for poorly peeps reading it!

Take care that your editing does not alter the context of the text that you are quoting. It can also be useful to write <snip> to indicate where you have chopped something that, although relevant, did not in your opinion need repeating.

Use a relevant subject line for your post, and if you change the focus of an established thread please update the subject to reflect this, e.g. “Understanding GPs (was Gardening tips)”. This helps people who don't have the time and/or energy to read all the posts in the group.

Please keep your signature (or sig) to a reasonable length and prefix it with a line consisting solely of 2 hyphens and a space: "-- ".

In the case of spammers, scammers, and trolls, just block all messages from that sender, or simply ignore their posts. If reading through Google Groups you can report spam/inappropriate content. I do this when I can but feel free to help out!
